WOW, ok, back on track. Virgil is almost too perfect for words. I had such a great visual of him at the club for the first time. The only one there that was dressed for the “theme†but not in a costume. It was awesome. Cowboy sexy is panty-melting! Damn if Summer didn’t make him work for it too. The quicker pace of a “novella†really helped this story too. It had to be quick, these two were already so set in their ways that it was going to have to be a lightning fast connection to get the ball rolling, and Cherise Sinclair gave it to us, just the way we like it. Hot, heavy, tangible connection. Even with all of Summer’s very valid fears, how was she ever going to really refuse Virgil? She didn’t stand a chance. The best twist for me was the shy sub who would only play in public and the hot and heavy Dom who wanted private. That worked for me. Side note, I understand it would be weird to have Kallie around Virgil during play, but the characters from the first couple books were so intertwined, and that seems to be slipping away. So if you are expecting a lot of fluidity in characters, I think that is slipping away, which seems weird for a series. I’m so late to the game in reading this series, I’m just wondering where it’s going. On to My Liege, guess I’ll find out soon enough. Highly recommended!
Summer is scared after being hurt badly by a wannabe Dom, and Virgil is scared that he's going to enjoy BDSM & be seen as a perv. He's afraid people will find out & put his job in trouble.. But I think its the playing in public he don't like cause he's such a private person. I love the way he shows her he will not abuse her trust in him. I loved the ending.. I can't wait to see what happens next in the story.. I'm very sad we didn't get to see Kallie & Jake get married in the storyline... I'm not sure I'm gonna like that they ate going to stop all the kink at the cabins!!! Really??? Where is all the kinky sex gonna happen in Bear Flatt's?? I'm stunned.. Bring on the next book!! I recommend this whole series & all the other series that the Author writes as I love them all.. <3
Virgil Masterson is new to the BDSM scene. His introduction to more intense play is at Dark Haven, a club catering to clientele dedicated to their playtime. He’s a country cop and is concerned he might be a pervert rather than a normal Dom. While there, he meets Summer Aragon who has never participated in more than light scenes. When the club’s owner calls her on playacting rather than being a true sub, she partners with Virgil in the sub-roping competition. His size frightens her though as he reminds her of an unpleasant relationship from her past. Virgil realizes Summer must have had problems before from the reticence she has expressing her likes and dislikes. Once she becomes accustomed to him, Summer discovers she likes Virgil and he returns her affections.A few roadblocks get in the way of Virgil and Summer’s happiness, but Sinclair ensures their romance thrives despite the obstacles. The erotic heat present in the other Mountain Masters/Dark Haven books steams up the pages here as well. I loved this novella because I got to know the characters and their story despite the short story length and want more of the series.
Virgil doesn't know if he likes his yearnings for dominance, so he tries it out in a club. And ropes himself a beautiful "calf"!I have read almost all of Ms Sinclair's books and what I ove about this one is the simple sweetness of it. There is a scared woman who meets a guy in doubt, apart from the sex, there are feelings and they blossom. And finally there is a guy who TALKS about his feelings! So rare to have a man, whether in books or real life, voicing his emotions, standing by them.If you want heat and feelings, you got it here.
A Dom who isn't sure the lifestyle is for him even tho control is in his blood, a sub who's afraid to give total control to someone - a match made for a Dark Haven couple! Having been introduced to these characters in other books in the series, I enjoyed reading their story and experiencing their growth along the way. As always, the author uses her words to wrap you in the emotions and makes you feel like you are part of the story as it unfolds. Great read!!
4 âï¸Oh I think Virgil is now my favourite. I really liked that he was unsure of being a Dom and really struggled with hurting Summer even if she wanted it. I liked the way he really focused on communication and watched Summer to understand her needs and wants, and although he was trying to work out what he wanted he never came across as unsure. It was good to see them both work through their issues.
I really liked the story and the characters. I want a Dom like Virgil!It didn't even bother me that it was a short story: sometimes novellas feel like the author rushed it and it lacks buildup and fluency. But you can trust Cherise to do a proper job, even when it's a short story, it's great. The only thing that didn't make sense, were 2 scenes she described in (too?) much detail. I couldn't work out what position they were in at all. As far as I could work out, it wasn't anatomically possibly. She has to put her hands on his shoulders, bend over (He was really tall, right????) and then he takes her nipple in his mouth? Does he have an extra head on his stomach maybe? I read over it a few times, couldn't work it out. There was a second scene that didn't seem to make sense. A shame, as that gets me in my head and out of the buzz from the story. Other than that, it's just excellent, as usual with Cherise's books.
