I used this to teach a local coding club class. The pictures and directions are perfect for people that consider themselves newbies to the world of coding. After reading this I felt one notch above a newbie, but also felt like it unlocked a new world to me. Using Scratch and getting involved with the communities has helped me become even more proficient at using coding in a classroom setting.
It's a very clear, concise book written like a textbook. I could see this being helpful to adults wanting to learn to code; trying to jump in to something like, say, JavaScript as a first language would be foolish, while Scratch teaches a person the basics of coding in a drag-and-drop environment. If you know someone with a passing interest in computers but who thinks computers just do random things to spite them, this could be helpful as well.
We homeschool and my kids are interested in learning computer coding. This is clear and easy to understand. The projects are fun to work through and keeps the kids' attention.
Like all DK books, this one is clearly written with terrific illustrations. A great introduction and explanation of concepts as well as "how-to"s.

I bought this for my 9 year old son, who loves computer games and is interesting in what makes them work. He is managing to create games (and modify them) working from the book with no help from me (isn't that a relief...).
