One of the best Delphi books I've ever read through. Very useful and most are not.

I just finished reading "Delphi CookBook Second Edition" and I'm really, really satisfied.The style of the book is represented by a pragmatic approach, including solutions to real problems in the form of "recipes" (IMHO the best way, because it goes beyond what the normal documentation can provide).So it is possible to view the full power of Delphi and at the same time, see how it can put into practice for the solution of real problems.This book is an advanced level guide that covers all the key parts of Delphi linked to programming. You will read about Style, RTL, RTTI, Firemonkey, PPL, HTTP Native Library etc.. but above all: how they can solve multithreading problems, how use specific platform features, how use it to query and build RESTFul services, etc...In conclusion, these recipes are big treasures because they represent a perfect mix: a problem, a minimum theoretical to understand the underlying concepts and an elegant and efficient solution to the problem.Furthermore, most of the time, the solutions are enhanced by pattern and best practices in order to be more generic and reusable as possible (like a pattern must do).

I purchased this book directly from the publisher (I have been waiting for its release) and I am in no way affiliated with the author or the publisher. I have the first edition of the book too. I am also very happy with the first edition.

I am honored to be the techincal reviewer of the second edition. It was an exciting adventure to take a look behind the curtains of book publishing. And I have to say that Daniel did a great job.Like any cookbook, this book is a collection of recipes. It is exactly what a â€œcookbookâ€ should be. Recipes are very different - from the use of VCL styles to the drawing on a FMX ListView component, and from examples of functional programming in Delphi to importing a Java-library interface in Android. Over 60 recipes, according to the cover :)Personally for me, the most interesting part of this book is not the essence of the recipes themselves, but the fact that the author uses all Delphi innovations when it's possible. This was very interesting to watch. Delphi has been developing very quick in recent years, and we are not always aware of how much is new in the recent versions.I therefore recommend Delphi Cookbook primarily for those who still works with older versions of Delphi and wants to take a closer look at the innovations. Although those who work with the latest version will definetely find something to expand their horizons too. And it particularly useful as a reference book.

I would definitely not recommend this book. After reading Jamie's name spelled as Jaime repeatedly, I wanted to pitch my Kindle. Couldn't the author afford a copy editor?

The content is nothing new. Reading most articles will educate you to the same material. I felt the organization of the book was very disjointed. One minute we are discussing how the 1st book was imagined, then we jump to a theme of the strong woman. It seemed like the book was cut and pasted together in a hap hazard way.Got so irritated w it I stopped reading.If it hadn't been on my phone I would have thrown the book out.

An entire waste of money. This is a booklet that you might find in a hotel lobby or local tourist destination in Scotland or American Highland Games event. Poorly written and not very well researched. Don't waste your money.

If you have any questions about the history of Scotland, England, France, and a bit of America, as it relates to Outlander (and all the books) this helps. Info on the kings of Scotland,England, and France...background on the wars...good stuff.My main complaint is that the author spells Jamie's name Jaime through much of the book unless pulling directly from the words Diana wrote. She got a couple of other details wrong, but nothing quite as glaring as misspelling the main male character's name.

As the rating says it's ok. It has some quite good bits in it, BUT.....obviously there is either something wrong with Ms Frankels spell check, OR she never really read the books. The male lead characters name is JAMIE, not JAIME, as over and over again come up in the book. That bit was very annoying.

As an Outlander addict, this book was a wonderful supplement to the books! Franken povides a background into Gabaldon' s research and writing of the series, and gives the reader information that helps in understanding many events in them. I really enjoyed this book!

Valerie is very specific in dealing with her subjects given in the title. As I mentioned with her other book, she refers to Game of Thrones as well as Outlander, and she uses many quotes from the books. I think that she adds some valuable details to one's understanding of the life and times that are not necessarily that familiar to us.

I wish there was more about the books and less about the series. Also I would have loved more illustrations on the clothing and more information on women and children.

Most books on mindfulness are about sitting or solitary practices. Desmond's dialogue based mindfulness is a delightful deviation. I've most recently been trained in brainspotting which also encourages mindfulness of body sensations, but once someone understands the process, the therapist visually attunes to what is happening with little interaction. Desmond promotes interaction with statements like, "Tell me what sensations you notice in your body." When the clients respond, Desmond repeats their words to help increase the focus on those sensations. The same kind of interaction can happen with thoughts--you are wondering...., remembering....scolding yourself. You can notice those thoughts without agreeing with them. Desmond goes on to demonstrate compassionate dialogues and dialogue with personality parts.I gave this book 5 stars because it will give me a more nuanced approach to the way I am currently practicing psychotherapy and it introduced me to two new concepts: (1) fast v. slow thinking and (2) the idea that you cannot have a therapeutic alliance without agreeing on a goal or focus for every session. However there were other things that were lacking for me:--He often closes his eyes in session with clients. I find I see so much when I'm watching clients process.--He does not give the scientific explanation of why awareness of body sensations reduces them. (It is because the insula observes body sensations and brings them to homeostasis).--He has some interesting statistics but doesn't clearly reference the sources, which I researched on my own.--Finally, the personality parts dialogues were lacking for me because this is my area of specialization.If readers want to know more about parts work with built in compassionate resources, I recommend EMPOWERING DIALOGUES WITHIN. It takes compassionate ego-state work a whole nother level..

I used this book to learn the self-compassion technique for myself. The book is clear and accessible and nicely grounded in interesting and inspiring research, and then the technique is really powerful and helped me touch/explore/heal some old wounded spots easily and beautifully. It works great as self-help.

The thesis, which is demonstrated by snippets of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, is that by awakening self-compassion we can revise harmful memories and relieve personal suffering. It is based on the Buddhist teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh and the Dali Lama who have shown that directed meditation can be used to recognize suffering and send it compassion, thus generating happiness and attention to the positive elements of life.â€œSelf-compassion is intimately related to the practice of mindfulness, both of which have garnered deep respect from some of the most influential voices in the mental health field. Mindfulness can be understood as a special way of paying attention. We focus our awareness in the present moment, with complete acceptance of our thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations. Rather than being lost in regrets about the past or worries about the future, we are completely present in the here and now. Through developing this way of paying attention, we become more grounded, peaceful, resilient, and lovingâ€¦ you cannot have mindfulness without compassion, and the practiceâ€¦of compassion always begins with compassion toward oneselfâ€¦ Although self-compassion sounds like a pretty simple idea, it isnâ€™t easy for most of us. Instead, we have a tendency to judge and criticize ourselves for any way that we fail to measure up to our idealized standards. Even those of us who really value self-compassion can be downright mean to ourselves sometimesâ€¦negative and judgmental thinkingâ€¦can lead to depression, anxiety, addiction, and even suicideâ€¦ Luckily, it is possible to learn how to relate to ourselves with kindness and compassionâ€ (page 3).Unlike self-esteem, which can cause problems, self-compassion is about evaluating oneself with a kind and forgiving attitude. It is not based on favorable comparisons to others. When we have compassion for ourselves we can begin to have compassion for others, first for our loved ones, then for neutral parties, even for our enemies, and ultimately for all living things. The Dali Lama defines compassion as â€œa sensitivity to the suffering of self and others, with a deep commitment to try to relieve itâ€ (page 7). Understanding a personâ€™s suffering helps to explain how they are acting. Without it we can easily misunderstand why they do what they do, particularly as it may seem selfish or cruel. We may hear that a person wanted to cause pain to others because it is the only way they could imagine to take care of their own needs. This therapy offers an alternative.The Dali Lama says that we all suffer and we all want to be happy. â€œWhen we can see that other people are just like we areâ€”that they suffer and want to be happyâ€”what emerges is a special kind of alliance. We want them to have relief from their suffering and to be happy just like they doâ€ (page 9).In explaining his theory of therapy by compassion, Desmond put it this way, â€œIt doesnâ€™t matter if the source of that compassion is oneself or another person. What matters is that somehow compassion makes direct contact with our painâ€ (page 16).Jaak Panksepp has discovered key element in the neuroscience of compassion. He found an emotional circuit shared by all mammals, called the Care Circuit. It generates oxytocin and endogenous opioids that soothe negative emotions and produce calm and contentment. This circuit is activated by self-compassion.Joseph LeDoux has discovered another key element in the neuroscience of compassion. When a memory is recalled it enters a state of changeability and can be associated with what is happening at the time it is recalled. When a negative memory is recalled in the presence of a positive thought it can be reconsolidated into a positive memory.The Care Circuit and the reconsolidation of memory can be combined to transform depression, anxiety, and compulsion into more constructive and positive thoughts and feelings. The book is about how to apply these findings to therapy with amazing results.

As a psychodynamic and relational psychotherapist whose private practice is focused primarily on patients who are successful but feel empty, I've found these concepts a wonderful fit and a natural complement to the work I'm already doing.

Fantastic book. Desmond wonderfully demonstrates the use of self-compassion based interventions in psychotherapy. It has been instrumental in changing how I approach both my therapy practice and my personal life. I would recommend this to all clinicians and believe that the information Desmond presents can be beneficial for everyone, whether or not they are a psychotherapist.

As usual Haynes has put together a great manual. Helped me out a lot when doing a rebuild. More manuals available over the parts counter (other than the ones listed on the website). If they dont have it at the store, they should be able to order it for you. Even the simple task of changing your engine-alternator belt (serpentine belt for most newer vehicles) when properly illustrated and followed will make the task easy for most backyard mechanics. A savings of at least $70 compared to going to a car shop - if you dont mind getting yourself a little dirty.let me tell you this is the the 1st thing u need to buy after you buy your car....(before insurance or licence plates!!) these manuls are great and have saved a jobber like me $1000's over the years!!!

I've lost them over the years, they are a general manual (parts changed in many ways for years on LandCruisers and this is for many years and several different types.) However, you need a manual and if you don't have a better one, which I have not found then pony up the big 24.00 and buy this... it turns out to be indispensable. Has alot of generic wiring diagrams. The fuse pages are good. In other words you'll need one of these sooner or later if you have an FJ40 or similar (of course if you have a diesel model this is worthless for that ;) ).

Great manual to help with my FJ refurbishing project!

Clear, concise, lots of good pictures. If you own a Toyota Land Cruiser, and work on it yourself, this is an absolute must-have. Excellent instructions for any repair you might need to perform. Only complaint is that, because this manual tries to cover a 20+ year run of a vehicle, some of it isn't exactly correct, as there were changes through the model years. In general though, this manual is a very good reference for all FJ40 maintenance and repair. Couple this with the appropriate Toyota Factory Service Manual, and you have everything you need to fix your truck!

Overall a good guide, I know they have to cover as much as possible, but wish it was more focused on the FJ40 models as i tries to cover the FJ55 wagons.

Had one before but lost it after I sold my 82. Now I have a 76 and I feel much more brave continuing to work on the best off road vehicle ever.

If you have an FJ40, you need this book.

Steve Berry is on the list of authors who deliver a reliably entertaining read. They're formulaic but he always puts in enough historical twists that you then spend time looking elsewhere to see what's fact and what's fiction. Unlike some of the other thriller hacks (Brad Thor for example) he doesn't fill the pages with his political views. Deep down if my English Lit teacher asked me to rate it, I'd give it a 3 but she didn't so I gave it a four. The short story at the end that laid the ground work for the main novel was a nice extra.

I have read all of Steve Berry's books and this is the most boring book I've read to-date, athough The Jefferson key was also boring. He's not developing his characters and plot as well as his previous books. It lacks the charisma I'm so used to in Berry's books. Also parts were like a horror story. The main characters mostly seem to be bad guys and they are not very likable - poorly developed; no sense of real adventure. At the last quarter of the book I skipped to the ending as it was so tedious. It was his typical endings "alls well that ends well" but the history line inbetween was not all that interesting and didn't seem real but fabricated, although I did look things up along the way and they are based on facts. It made me feel at the ending - so what - about Christopher Columbus although giving credit due where credit is due - it was interesting about the Columbus family line and Jamaica. And I found the Maroon people fascinating.Do a story on Americus Vespucius (Amerigo Vespucci) :D or Better yet - secret societies worldwide since the beginning of time involving the Magellan Billet. Amen. ;)

I like the twists that Steve Berry incorporated as he spun this take but there were parts I just personally didn't like or enjoy. The conspiracy was well-endowed and gripped me through the whole story. The conclusion about the librarian bothered me though. I didn't understand why that character deserved such a pivotal and positive role.

A great story teller, Steve Berry wove historical mystery into a very real life family drama. Tom Sagan makes for an unexpected hero. His daughter gives him every reason to walk away, but like most fathers he can't just give up. Fast read that keeps you gripped in the action and great characters.

To much writing about eastern country conflicts. I skipped 1/3 of the book. I did like the search, mystery aspect. I will not re-read this book. Characters were interesting.

There is little evidence as to who Christopher Columbus was..... Disgraced reporter Tom Sagan is literally at the end of his life, when a stranger intervenes and a new adventure begins...Tom must solve 500 year old mystery so that he can try to a daughter who despises.....

This is not a Cotton Malone story. It was good story with a jaded protagonist. But Steve Berry went into too much detail about the alleged treasure they were searching for. It was a tough read.Give me Cotton Malone any day.

I'm a total fan of Berry's "Cotton Malone" character and tales; I've read them all. This "non-Malone" book didn't capture my attention as those did. I never connected to any of the characters and struggled at times to follow the story, despite what seemed like some repetition. As always, however, I throughly enjoyed and appreciated how, at the end of the novels, the author separates historical fact and his fiction; after each novel I feel like I've learned something and will remain a Steve Berry fan.

About the Author

Mark Lardas has been fascinated by things related to the sea and sky his entire life. From building models of ships and aircraft as a teen, his maritime interest led him to study Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, but his interest in aviation led him to take a job on the then-new Space Shuttle program. Over the next 30 years he worked as a navigation engineer on the Shuttle program. Currently he works developing commercial aircraft systems as a quality assurance manager. He has written extensively about aircraft and warships and is the author of 25 books, all related to military, naval, or maritime history. He lives in Texas.Mark Postlethwaite was born in Leicestershire in 1964 and has developed a lifelong passion for aviation history. He first worked as a photographer before turning his attention solely to artwork, and is now highly regarded in his field for the quality and accuracy of his work. He became the youngest elected member of the Guild of Aviation Artists in 1991. Mark is a valued Osprey artist and has contributed to more than 100 of its books. He lives in the UK.

Rabaul was a place of supreme importance in the Pacific - a sheltered, protected fleet anchorage. The Japanese seized New Britain, the island upon which the town of Rabaul was built and Simpson Harbor early in the war as a bastion in the South Pacific. In this Air Campaign #2 "Rabaul 1943-44", author Mark Lardas gives us the history of the air campaign to wear down and isolate this Pacific fortress.The genesis of the campaign was the realization that it would be prohibitively expensive in terms of lives, resources and time to invade and conquer Rabaul with its airfields, aircraft, ships in harbor and many thousands of troops. Therefore, it was decided to render Rabaul impotent and isolated. This would be performed by an air campaign to destroy Japanese air assets on Rabaul and seize surrounding islands.After the author's introduction, he lays out the capabilities and weapons on the opposing sides as well as the opposing objectives, Lardas then chronicles the course of the campaign as the Fifth Air Force and Comairsols (Command Air, Solomons) combined to relentlessly attack Japanese airbases, duel with Japanese Army and Naval aircraft and destroy ground facilities. The author details how the campaign was attritional, wearing down and draining the Japanese. Not only did it draw an increasing number of Japanese army pilots, but the Japanese transferred veteran carrier pilots from their remaining carriers to the Rabaul battle where they were shot down and killed, leaving Japan's carriers bereft of veteran pilots.The author does a good job of relating the course of battles and raids, detailing the air bombing attacks and the losses to both sides. The Fifth Air Force from MacArthur's SWPA commanded by Gen. George Kenney who determined the tactics to be used. This is a very good account of the campaign and the battles of Rabaul.I have a few points of contention with the author's conclusions. Firstly, he tends to place greater emphasis on Comairsols than is due since it was the Fifth Air Force's heavy and medium bombers that did a disproportionate amount of the damage and bore the brunt of early battles before the Japanese were worn down. Secondly, the author makes the odd comment that Rabaul required closer islands to be taken so new airfields could be constructed for single-engine fighters as two-engine fighters (the P-38) weren't capable of defeating the Japanese. The P-38's performance in this and the New Guinea campaign shows this notion to be invalid. Add to that the fact that America's two highest-scoring aces both flew P-38s, I don't know where the author gets that from.None the less, it's a good story about a lesser-known air campaign that was wholly successful and had far-reaching effects on the war in the Pacific. It also has all the period photos, maps and color artwork we expect from Osprey. Solid four stars.

The solution was the risky but brilliant Operation Cartwheel: Isolate Rabaul and take away its offensive capabilities..."Rabaul 1943-44" is an Osprey Air Campaign Series book, authored by Mark Lardas with illustrations by Mark Postelwaite. The focus is on the multi-service air campaign against Rabaul during 1943-1944. That campaign progressed through continuing air attacks, supporting by a growing ring of Allied airfields around Rabaul. Its outcome was by no means assured, as the author's narrative demonstrates.The book provides a comparison of the plans and forces of the opponents, along with some nice thumbnail descriptions of the various aircraft fielded by both sides. The heart of the narrative is of course the description of the air campaign itself, supported by maps, illustrations, period photographs, and some well-done battle diagrams. Well-recommended as a clear, concise and understandable account of a complex campaign.

This is a quick read about the battle of Rabaul in '43-'44. Maps and photos are good, I can use this book to teach or give tours (I work in a military museum). For my uses, this book is an ideal length with the appropriate detail.I have an extensive library on many of the Pacific battles of WWII. The problem is if I have to research a question, a big book can take time. This book will give me a quick answer and I can use it to point to a certain spot in a detailed book.

Rabaul, is an area of WW2 that I am not very knowledgable. The book was very informative in covering the overall campaign as always offered great maps, graphics, and pictures. As an aside, my father-in-law, who as a rear gunner in an SBD, attacked Rabaul on numerous occasions, thoroughly enjoyed looking at the maps and graphs and remising about his service over Rabaul.

It's informative in the sense it tells you what happened where and when, but I got bogged down with dates and places. Would have been nice to have more first-hand accounts from pilots involved based on historical records. I'd also have liked to learn more about the planes, specs, performance, etc. but a lot of that is kind of glossed over.

Book Review of The Founder's Dilemmas: Anticipating and Avoiding the Pitfalls That Can Sink a Startup by Noam WassermanJust occasionally you read a book that you wish you had read 25 years ago. I worked in the entrepreneurial/venture capital sector 1984-2007 and I so wish I had read this book in 1984. Unfortunately it was not published until 2012 so it was not possible but if you are (budding) entrepreneur, potential start-up hire, angel investor or venture capitalist you should really read this book. This is the first book that really gets to the human side of entrepreneurship but is based on the evidence of a ten year study of some 2000 technology and life science start-ups for the period 2000-9.Note the title; it is dilemmas not dilemma. In this book Wasserman identifies a number of defining moments in the trajectory of a start-up where the entrepreneur must make a choice which while it may appear to be operational or tactical ends up having significant strategic consequences For example a the first decision for an founder to determine what is his or her motivation? Is it wealth-or-control ("do you want to be king or want to be rich?").This really resonated with me. For 12 years I was the Executive Chairman of Nanyang Ventures which had three early stage funds doing Series A & B investments. One of innovations when I introduced at Nanyang Ventures was to psychologically profile the entrepreneurs. What we discovered after five years is that our winners had three key characteristics.1. They had high numerical intelligence. They could understand the numbers. We thought we could compensate for those who had high general and verbal intelligence but low numerical IQ with a competent CFO. We were wrong.2. They were dominated by the desire for economic success. The personality tool we used was the Humm Wadsworth as it is one of the few tests that measures this factor. Initially we were looking for energetic team builders who were decisive and competitive (kings). Again we were wrong. Wasserman lists the problems that â€˜kingâ€™ entrepreneurs and venture capital investors may have. We had all of them, many in triplicate.3. They were also dominated by the desire to complete projects and saw the start-up as a series of projects. They were extremely task orientated and focused on the technical details. They were into planning and compulsively reading everything they could about a project. Their passion ignited the rest of their team. We had not picked this factor as being necessary; again we were wrong.Some of the Amazon reviews criticise it for being academic. I could not disagree more. This book resonates with reality

Every economy needs a steady flow of â€œstart-upsâ€ (new businesses,) to grow and create jobs. Estimates vary on the value to the country of small business, but there is strong support for the idea that small businesses create more jobs larger companies. And, behemoths such as Microsoft, Facebook and Google were once start-ups.The problem is that of seven start-ups only two will be operating in a year later! That is a 71% failure rate. Imagine if close to all business that started succeeded, and went on to employ only five people. In a short time our â€œnational scar,â€ unemployment, would be on the way down and prosperity on the way up.Naom Wasserman has assembled superb data from his research on over 10,000 new businesses that were set to grow large. His research focused exclusively on businesses that were intended to grow large, not on lifestyle businesses intended only to keep the founder comfortable. He also accessed a wide range of reliable data from other sources to formulate this book.What makes Wassermanâ€™s book so unusual is his focus on a fact over research overlooks. More business start-ups fail because of internal problems caused by the foundersâ€™ errors of judgement than by external causes. If founders in the initial stages could make better decisions, many more businesses would be saved, and more would thrive.Wasserman has identified clear a set of dilemmas facing founders. Choices have to be made between alternatives with no choice obviously better than another. All come with significant upsides and downsides. Solved appropriately, the founders will survive to face the next dilemma. Fail, and there could be no next dilemma.â€œThis bookâ€™s central message is that these founding decisions need to be made by design, not by default,â€ say Wasserman.There are four primary founding decisions that make up the content of the book. Each dilemma is analysed, and its implications made clear. This clarity will help you, and those you care about make better, safer decisions.At the â€œPre-foundingâ€ stage, there are a set of dilemmas regarding when to launch the start-up. There are at least three major areas of considerations. If you do not have enough money, it may be wise to work for someone else until you do. Perhaps you should you borrow money and start right now? If you delay the start of the business, will you have missed the wave?There is no one right answer to this question, and it requires the consideration of a number of factors. Are you able to ensure the security of your family (if you are responsible for one?) If you have savings or a retrenchment package will that suffice? Does your life-partner earn sufficiently to support the family? If she does, is she completely committed to your success to pay her part while you play yours? If not, the strain of founding the business may exhaust your strength and shatter your relationship. Are you locked in the golden handcuffs of a secure job?These and many more profound and difficult questions need probing and honest answers.Once you have made the decision to start a business, you face the â€œFounding Team Dilemmasâ€ . Are you able to start a business alone or should you have others doing this with you? There are always skills that are required, but cannot reside in one person. Then there may be a need to work with another person who has your commitment to the success of the venture.The need to work with others raises the â€œRelationship Dilemmaâ€ of to attract. Will the business work best if you team up with friends, family, acquaintances or strangers? Should you seek someone you have actually worked with before?The â€œRole Dilemmaâ€ follows from this. What are the positions each one of you should assume in the new business?How should each person be rewarded for their contribution to the venture? If you reward with more equity than is deserved, you cannot take it back when this becomes apparent. â€œReward Dilemmasâ€ are especially dangerous at the beginning of a business when there is nothing tangible. Giving away half of nothing but a promise is easy. However, when the business makes money, paying dividends to someone who never deserved it takes on a different hue. Few mistakes sour relationships more profoundly.Beyond the dilemmas of the founding team are the â€œInvestor Dilemmas.â€ Most businesses require funding to take off in a meaningful way.You can turn to family and friends, â€œangelâ€ investors, or venture capitalists. Accessing each these sources become progressively harder, and each poses its dilemmas.For example, when take money from you pensioned parents, you do this believing you will succeed. Five of seven businesses never succeed causing great harm to people close to you. Borrowing from family and friends is best when it is a gift that come with love, not an investment.Angel investors are investors but tend not to be professional investors. They are often people who have money and are prepared to â€œtake a puntâ€ on what looks like a â€œgood ideaâ€ in exchange for equity and a high return. As with all investors, you will be required give up a portion of your business to the investor in exchange for the support.At every stage there are dilemmas that if not confronted and not addressed thoughtfully, will do more damage to the fledgling business than problems that come from external forces.Self-inflicted wounds can be avoided. This book helped me make the decision to start a technology company with a previous coworker. It does a great job of laying out the pros and cons to decisions that are too often prone to emotional thinking, like who to start a company with, who to take funding from, how to distribute titles and equity amongst cofounders, etc. Large portions of the book are amenable to speed reading, but useful, informative content is distributed evenly throughout the book. The author does a great job helping you think through starting a high-growth company off on the right foot wrt structure, and paints complex decisions in appropriate shades of grey. This book will not help you find an idea, an it will not motivate you to start a company, but it should make the decision clear. This book is less suitable for people who want to start small businesses, but I would highly recommend it to people thinking about that anyway with four stars. It's a definite fiver for those more interested in the decisions around starting a high growth company.

Noam Wasserman provides a detailed analysis on the issues confronted by entrepreneurs. There is a nice database he uses to provide useful statistics. That said; not two businesses, products or services are the alike. The book does not provide a set of guidelines / cookbook to have a successful business. What it does is describe the pitfalls that one way or the other will be faced by a startup.Being an entrepreneur, having worked for a startup, small, medium and large companies I highly recommend this book not only for entrepreneurs but for executives in companies that wish to develop a new product / service and want to understand many of the issues they will encounter (people, product, etc).
