The details and breakdown of this book are fantastic. This book is both helpful for those who need a general idea of how to approach UX design and those who want flesh, bone, and practical application. As a programming and web development student this was incredibly helpful supplementing my course work (as school curriculum are structured to be slow instead of following/begin ahead of the curve).

Excellent resource

This book tries to cover the field of User Experience from A to Z. As a result some of the information is very good and some is not very good. This is problematic because it is aimed at an audience that is new to user experience and that audience won't know the difference between good and not so good user experience practices. I can not recommend it.

Should be titled "Project Management of UX Designs for Very Large Websites", instead of "UX Design". 2/3 of the book consists of excellent details on web UX project management; 1/3 is webpages' UX recommendations, mostly on retail websites. For example, book writes more about workshop procedures to gather UX specifications than about webpages' UX specifications.Authors are premiere UX consultants in Great Britain, hired by sizable companies, frequently retailers. They write from such perspective, dealing with websites with budgets covering several specialists including visual designer, developer, marketer, product managers, campaign managers, etc. Excellent tips on how to involve committees and consensus-building during web UX design. Not for smaller websites.The book has weaknesses. 1. User design, I believe, should be tied into search engine and web marketing, and this approach doesn't. 2. The book is interested in profitability and returns on investments, but I feel it should have stronger emphasis. 3. Tie into social media in design is absent.Incorrect title and profitability weaknesses--4 star.Who would particularly benefit from this book?1. Buyers of UX services would learn what UX people do.2. A trainee for UX would learn a lot!3. A web designer without a UX department who suddenly lands a large project.

As someone who has lived in Chicago for over ten years now I find this book to be a great guide to finding things that I might not have already known about. There are a number of things in here that are fairly well known, but there are also a lot that I'd never heard of and that have been fun to check out. I'm a stay at home dad with a 2 year old and we've been on several little mini adventures already using the book as a guide. Not really something I'd recommend to people visiting Chicago for a brief vacation but ideal for more long term "tourists."

The first thing I always look for in a travel book is quality photography, and this one nails it! Ms. Inverso brings Chicago to life with her photos. I hope I can see Chicago the way she does!

Got it for my grandson; new resident of Chicago. And he really likes it.

This was a gift, and the recipient (a high school graduate headed to art school) said it was perfect for the occasion.

Great hostess gift for my Chicago host. She loved it too!

With this volume, I’m impressed by the artist Afro’s dedication to detail, as the camping club visits a huge outdoor equipment retailer. Nadeshiko is puppy-like in her excitement and enthusiasm over everything available for camping, and I was amazed at the drawn images, with shelves of pots and walls of backpacks. While trying a gas lamp, the calm and enjoyment on Nadeshiko’s face as she thinks, it’s “like a baby bonfire” is infectious. That’s the mood that I adore this series for.The girls struggle with the cost of the cool accessories for their hobby, which provides a realistic underpinning to the lovingly illustrated gear. Then Rin and Nadeshiko plan a trip, but Nadeshiko catches a cold, so Rin heads out by herself. The principle on display, based on her grandpa’s advice, is “The parts you don’t plan make the journey more fun.” That means she takes unexpected delays, like a detour due to a closed road, with equanimity, another inspirational lesson.Once Nadeshiko starts feeling better, she and Aki text with Rin, giving her suggestions for places to visit, capturing the best of both worlds: Rin is still out alone, but her friends are virtually with her, enjoying her images of the trip. Plus, Aki makes a local soup for her recovering friend. I love cooking manga, and this recipe, although played for humor, added to the heart-warming appeal of this volume. Food is an important part of the experience for these characters, and between that and the gorgeous scenery, those factors are welcome introductions into the camping world.
