With this volume, I’m impressed by the artist Afro’s dedication to detail, as the camping club visits a huge outdoor equipment retailer. Nadeshiko is puppy-like in her excitement and enthusiasm over everything available for camping, and I was amazed at the drawn images, with shelves of pots and walls of backpacks. While trying a gas lamp, the calm and enjoyment on Nadeshiko’s face as she thinks, it’s “like a baby bonfire” is infectious. That’s the mood that I adore this series for.The girls struggle with the cost of the cool accessories for their hobby, which provides a realistic underpinning to the lovingly illustrated gear. Then Rin and Nadeshiko plan a trip, but Nadeshiko catches a cold, so Rin heads out by herself. The principle on display, based on her grandpa’s advice, is “The parts you don’t plan make the journey more fun.” That means she takes unexpected delays, like a detour due to a closed road, with equanimity, another inspirational lesson.Once Nadeshiko starts feeling better, she and Aki text with Rin, giving her suggestions for places to visit, capturing the best of both worlds: Rin is still out alone, but her friends are virtually with her, enjoying her images of the trip. Plus, Aki makes a local soup for her recovering friend. I love cooking manga, and this recipe, although played for humor, added to the heart-warming appeal of this volume. Food is an important part of the experience for these characters, and between that and the gorgeous scenery, those factors are welcome introductions into the camping world. Maybe I already think outside of the box. I didnt find too many ideas that I hadnt already though of. If you are used to working in a cubical and want out this would be a good book.

Too mundane

There is some consolidated information here. Not a lot of new stuff. But it did get me thinking. I'd recommend it.

I just starting reading the book. It looks promising , a little over whelming its pack with job ideas. I not sure how much of it will work but I have lot more reading of this book to find out. There is hope.

Heavy little "paperback"--seems to be printed on something just short of cardstock, but lots of information about each truly odd job that is listed (perks, downsides, what you need to get started, possible costs involved, and sites to check out). Not everyone would be qualified for some, but reading about these possible "careers" is fun. And who knows(?) a person might actually find his/her calling within its pages....

Around the world, Christians are being targeted for persecution by their Muslim neighbors. In I Am N, the Voice of the Martyrs organization has gathered some of their stories. With the rise of ISIS, we began to hear more about the persecution of Christians in the Muslim world. ISIS has targeted Christians, giving the an ultimatum: "convert to Islam, pay an outlandishly high tax, or be killed." In some areas, they mark the homes and businesses of Christians with an N for Nazarene, marking them as followers of Isa (Jesus) the Nazarene.The stories are arranged around several themes: sacrifice, courage, joy, perseverance, forgiveness, and faithfulness. I am forced to ask myself, would I be willing to sacrifice under persecution? Can I rely on Jesus for my joy in spite of circumstances? Could I truly forgive those who have persecuted me, even taking the lives of my family? I honestly don't know.Many of these persecuted individuals spoke of the support they received from other Christians. But I was surprised by a few who were turned away. One new Christian, a former Muslim, had a hard time finding a pastor to baptize her. Pastors she asked feared retribution. Another fleeing family was turned away by their friends, who feared that they, too, would be targeted. At the same time, there were some who received help from Muslim neighbors, demonstrating that there are some Muslims who are truly peace-loving and able to coexist with Christians. I wish the authors had explored this nuance more. As a Christian living in the U.S., I find it difficult to discern among Muslim groups. I don't fear the Muslim family across the street in my Texas neighborhood. But who, among their associates and fellow Muslims, should I be leery of, if any?The most shocking stories, to me, are the Christians who are tortured and beaten by their own family. Who would torture his own daughter because she became a Christian? Who would poison his own wife because she assisted their Christian child? How about the Christian housekeeper who was beaten by her Muslim boss: "Fatima [a wealthy Muslim woman] called for her two daughters and husband to join her in beating Parveen [their Christian maid]. They accepted her invitation without hesitation." What kind of people live like this? Evil people. These are stories of evil.Every one of the stories in I Am N falls way, way outside of my experience as an American Christian. I have never been called on to give up home, family, security, wealth, or my life because of my faith, nor do I ever expect to in the United States. These stories remind me that in some parts of the world, following Jesus has a high cost. Voice of the Martyrs, the people who published Jesus Freaks vol I&II, has put together another inspiring compilation of stories from the lives of Christ-followers who pay a price for an undying belief. It has cost many of them their lives, and those who are persecuted and live have found a depth of faith and peace that so many believers crave. In the 70's and 80's I was compelled by the faith stories from behind the iron curtain; in this millennium it is the Christ-followers inhabiting the lands under the black shroud of Islam that share their stories of persecution and martyrdom, lives of those of who this world is not worthy.These are the stories not printed in the media, and this is but a mere sampling of what the believers in these countries face.

Didn't want to put this book down. Riveting faith building testimonies that compels one to love and pray for these believers and their persecutors. Makes you re-evaluate your priorities.

Excellent introduction to the persecution of our brothers and sisters. Each story is short - about 1.5-2 pages. The author gives just enough info about the person and their experience for us to understand what happened without overwhelming us. He then describes how this person handles the event and aftermath, and suggests a prayer point for each one. I personally recommend reading a story a day to focus your prayers and thoughts.

These are stories you won't see on the mainstream media but they are of real people of faith, staying true to their Christian beliefs in the face of Islamic oppression. The stories are neither sugar coated nor sensationalized. What comes through is that these are ordinary people who's faith is strengthened through persecution of all kinds. Definitely worth a read for those of us living in the western world where we take freedom for granted and in many respects have become soft in our convictions.

This book really opens your eyes to how much suffering and sacrificing that Christians in many parts of the world endure every day. We take our freedom of religion for granted, and this book makes us realize just that. This is a book that every Christian in the free world needs to read. It makes us grateful for our religious freedom and opens our eyes to the need for fervent prayer for our brothers and sisters around the globe who do not have that freedom. The format of the book makes it easy to read. Each chapter focuses on a different individual/family/group.

This is such an incredible compilation of stories! I'm not even done reading it and am once again in complete awe and amazed at the faith of our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ in the face of there persecutors. May those that persecute them see the love of Christ through the very ones they persecute!Lord Jesus you are so good ... please surround your people with the awesome power of your Holy Spirit as you complete your work Father. In Jesus name Amen!

This book was for a friend but I love the short chapters about different people. It will make it easy to read about one person in a short amount of time if that's all you have. We should be more aware of the lives Christians live in other countries! And this is a great book to give you insight into lots of people's stories! The Voice of the Martyrs is a great organization!

So necessary to remember that Jesus' prophesy that His followers would be fought against & hurt because they love His IS actually happening around the world today. But it is also necessary to see that His promise to turn these attacks into opportunities to share & demonstrate His power IS actually happening around the world AS WELL! I Thank God for the ministry of VOM, in their assistance to the Body of Christ under persecution, for reminding us who are living under religious freedom that they are a part of us, and for providing an avenue to bear their burden!

This is by Mikuli, Chopin's close student. As pianists we should look at Mikuli editions because Mikuli captures the performance practice of Chopin's time. You certainly can disagree with Mikuli, but it can't hurt to look. This Schirmer edition is outstanding. The print is excellent, the layout is large and well spaced. Easy to read. It's big, 296 pages. The binding is tight; tricky to keep open. It's a really nice volume. Very happy to have it.

Unlike other collections of the mazurkas, this collection includes all of the known pieces that Chopin wrote in this genre as well as his wonderful polonaises. The technical difficulties range from modest to demanding and most pianists should find pieces that suit their level of expertise, except for pianists in the early to mid-intermediate levels. The Schirmer printings are clear and easy to read and the bindings hold up to constant use, but it takes a while to get the books folded enough to stay open while playing. (Not really surprising as they are fairly thick books. Not really an issue for me.)

I always love these Shirmer's editions. Clearly written and just the right size. Sometimes the pages wear so the binding isn't the best. Still, for the price it's great.

Arrived on time and as expected. This is an excellent edition with clear, easy to read print. It takes a bit if effort at first to get it to lie flat, no I just put a heavy book on the open music over night a few times and that took care of it.

Nice economical way to supplement your Chopin collection. Also consider Schirmer's Nocturnes,Waltzes,Preludes.Binding is durable, but the book is thick enough where it is often difficult to keep book open. I'm a personal fan of sprial bound.

Title says it all: It would be nice to know exactly how this edition differs from Chopins intentions. Chopin's handwriting may be difficult to interpret but then that could have been stated. I lack explanations: How was the original handwriting, was there any room for doubt and why did Mikuli believe that his composing skills superseded those of Chopin? And if Mikuli was such an excellent composer why don't we know of anything he made?

First let me say, the recipes are very simple. Probably some or many of them you already have in your repertoire - say, slow roasted tomatoes? hummus? Some are perhaps too simple - avocados with lime and salt? Granted, she states for that - it's not really a recipe, "It's just a perfect thing in a very imperfect world" - I give you this example because what truly grabbed me in her book was her writing, and the way she introduces her simple but definitely tasty and well-balanced recipes. A cookbook that makes you smile all the way as you browse through it... is my kind of cookbook. And let me tell you, the Provencal-Style Spiced Nuts is perfect. I've made some versions before but hers hits the perfect balance of sweet and spice.

Love love love this book. Recipes are simple and easy yet appear super impressive. Great for entertaining or if you need inspiration for a few small snacks or sides. Photos are stunning. I love the colorful language the author uses and her storytelling, and best of all everything I’ve made so far from it is delicious!! Highly recommend. Also a great gift idea!!

Like the concept and some of the ideas (e.g. deconstructing a pizza) but at other times it seems that the author started with a beautiful photo and then worked back from that point, rather than starting with the ingredients or the meal idea. As a result there are lots of photos and ideas featuring figs, even though it's something that most people might realistically buy once in a blue moon.

Suzanne Lenzer has given us a tasty collection of small plates. More than that she has provided interesting stories to accompany the recipes. The pictures that accompany the recipes are stunning.

I was a battlefield tour guide in Europe for over three years. One of our most popular tours was the Ardennes Offensive aka "The Battle of the Bulge". Since we only had a day, we would drive up from Luxembourg City, paralleling the 3rd Army's relief route, and tour the Bastogne perimeter. If I had this book, I would've recommended this to my customers who wished to visit other sites of the battle. "A Tour of the Bulge Battlefield" is designed for the tourist who wishes to tour the battlefield(s) for himself/herself. Well researched and written, one could almost use this book as a secondary source in itself. The six chapters cover the entire battle, from the north around Stavelot, to the south in the Ettlebruch/Diekirch area. Each chapter is in itself an excellent capsulation of the battle and movements, both German and American. However, this is not a guidebook in the traditional sense, there is nothing about lodging, and very little regarding food, and other questions most tourists have. Also, what few maps there are inadequate, surprising considering this book is designed for auto-touring.If you get several maps, the excellent Michelin series comes to mind, plus a traditional guidebook, and some `net research regarding transport, renting a car in Belgium/Luxembourg/Germany, this book would make for an outstanding historical vacation.

If you are going to visit the Ardennes to see Battle of the Budge battlefields buy this book. Stories bring the locations alive. Easy to follow directions.

Using it right now! Great guide, though a few driving directions are confusing to follow. Some of the referenced sites have gone unfound (not sure if due to poor directions or removed by locals, etc.). The history and associated personal anecdotes are great. Highly recommend this guide.

Good guide to the region. Maps are always so difficult to find for these small villages. In my reading, it helps to see the regions being discussed in order to appreciate the written word. Purchased this as an advance review of my upcoming trip to Belgium and Luxembourg.
