An absolutely gorgeous book. Each woman/chapter is broken down into relevant biblical text followed by the author's midrash. The author did her own translations of the biblical text and I wish I had a whole Bible translated by her. Her midrash is wonderful and so insightful. I am a college professor teaching Women of Biblical Literature and I use this as one of my two main texts for teaching. My students love it. The images selected to accompany the text are beautiful. As an educator, I believe every student of Judaism, scripture, and feminism should own this book. As a Jew, I believe every person should own a copy of this book, men and women alike. It makes a fantastic b'nai mitzvah gift, conversion gift, etc. Really can't recommend enough.

Kept me captivated! It's nice to see the Hebrew vision and interpretation of the women in scripture! Afterall, the root of the Christian faith is Hebrew; wisdom and encouragement is gained. So little is mentioned of women and their importance even in the Christian faith. It's a man's church. But in the plan of redemption, we see even clearer, the importance the woman plays and has played in history. The author really brings this to light. I throughly enjoyed it.

I go back to this book and re-read portions frequently. I have given Listen to Her Voice as a gift. The Women of the Hebrew Bible were amazing. This book is my heritage but not that of my daughter-in-law and she loves a good discussion of The Women. She seem particularly fond of Esther while I love them all. The pictures are beautiful.I recommend this book for all women regardless of faith. I found it a little difficult reading about "Ya", as the author refers to GOD in a feminine. As a reference book, gift or just for your own enjoyment, buy this book.Marilyn 6

An interesting book and one that you should read if you want to know more about the women of the bible. Most authors only write about the men. Like there were no women back then.. I wonder where all the men came from??? Quick delivery and very good condition.

The joy of this book is not limited to finding about women in the Bible. It is quick look over the biblical history of Judaism. The mostly European artist painting renditions of these women could probably make for a good college disseration. The author first puts the biblical narrative in the story of each women and then comments on the story. Her comments are for the most part thoughtful and worthwhile reading. The author sometimes gets into the trap which says women can do no wrong, which does not serve her story well, but this is just a minor quibble.

I am a Christian who wanted to know more about the women of the Hebrew Bible and this book is beautifully written. very thought provoking and a must have for Jewish or Christian women.

A very good book. Great plot. Unfortunately, the previous book really needs to have been read to fully appreciate this one. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the book and will read the next one. Flynn does a great job humanizing his characters and outing the corrupt politicians ubiquitous pursuit of power. The main story is about a bunch of cowardly Muslims who attack innocent people to make themselves seem righteous in their own eyes. The hero pursues them and they die. There are a lot of side stories in this book as well and a couple of them didn't really get wrapped up very well, but overall very good book.

Been reading the entire Mitch Rapp series. As soon as I approach the last pages of one I am already ordering the next! This series gets better and better. (Unfortunately, author Vince Flynn, has passed away from cancer. He was definitely taken away from us way too soon.) Therefore, I have finished this novel and the final Flynn novel, "The Last Man". Sadly, especially after "The Last Man", I want more of Mitch Rapp. Mr. Flynn's friend will be taking over the series and a new Mitch Rapp novel is scheduled for September(?). I only hope that this new author can keep the series going with the flair that Mr. Flynn had.Awesome series, great storylines, real-to-life theories, excellent characters, believable with a dusting of fiction...

Vince Flynn is one of my favorite authors. Sad he died so young. Mitch Rapp will win your heart if your a man or woman. Irene Kennedy is the director of the Central Intelligence Agency and is like a sister to Mitch instead of his BOSS. Every book can stand on its own. I have read several not in order and found "Kill Shot" and really enjoyed a very young Mitch. A friend going through chemo has thanked me for suggesting Flynn's books while he's in the hospital for hours. Try them...I have read "Transfer of Power" twice.

Can't think of anything about this book I like. What I dislike the most is the nauseating diatribe for the far right view. Also disliked the shallow plot. Not a good book. In fact, it is Flynn's worst, in my opinion.

Very good writing and storyline but that's exactly what we've come to expect and receive from Vince Flynn. He never disappoints. I got a little weary of the Nash character, though. Hopefully, we're done with him as a major player.Though a standalone book, this is also a sequel to the previous book. I don't care for that feature and it's the only two books in the Rapp series done that way so rest easy - that's over now.

Book number 13 of a 18 book action mystery series in the Mitch Rapp universe, chronologically. I read the excellently bound and printed large format MMPB. There will be more in the series as the family has hired a new writer.A terrorist cell has made it into the USA and has a plan. Mitch Rapp and the gang are desperately trying ti catch up to them. The story goes on from there.My rule is that if a book makes me stay up at night to finish it, it is a five star book.

This is a reread for me. I'm reading some books in the series before SURVIVOR comes out next week. I think most women would love to love a man like Mitch who is the top CIA operative. He's a man's man and a real catch for women.This novel dealt with terrorists from al-Qaeda. Three of them manage to kill about 200 Americans. Mitch has to not only deal with terrorists and politicians, but traitors too. Then his best friend's daughter is kidnapped by two of the terrorists and Mike Nash wants to trade his life for his daughter's. Old Hurley is still in Mitche's life and business, even though he is officially retired. Great read. I highly recommend everything Vince Flynn has ever written.

Great story. A lot of characters to keep track of but well worth the time. I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish. There was a short story continuation from the previous book in the series. Mitch Rapp made quick work of that issue...Now terrorists are training in South America for there big attack on America. Their plans partially succeed but now three of them are on the run in heartland. There is politics, agency infighting and lots more in this book.

I rated this book 5 stars because of the content, openness, and above all her bravery. The book has a lot of chilling details and saddening to know that things like this happen every day. The book was written well and it was very descriptive of the terrible ordeal she endured during her captivity. I wouldn't read it again because the images are etched in my brain but it was definitely a good read. This book was read in 6 hours.

I started reading this book about 6 weeks ago. Honestly, I haven't finished it. I usually start and finish a book a book within 2 days, but this one has been extremely difficult to read. I've had to put it down and go distract myself with housework or something....anything.....to take my mind off the horror of what that child went through. Things don't really get to me, but this has. The abuse is relentless. Merciless. Unimaginable. I don't know if I can finish it. Usually you can find a glimmer of hope, something that leads you to believe that not only will the person make it out, but can even begin to heal one day. This book destroyed that for me. I just don't see how that little girl will ever be ok. There is no therapy, no church, no friends, family, or new life that can make a moment of that bearable. It is one of the more difficult abuse stories I've read. As disturbing as A Child Called It, but in a different way. His story was torture and abuse, but she at least wanted him to live.

This is one of the sad, horrific stories of child abuse that stays with you loonnng after reading it. I have read many books over the years but tend to stay away from true stories, especially those true stories that can become traumatizing just reading them. With this book, I was unable to put it down though and found myself crying for the young girl being tortured, feeling afraid for her and everything she endured. Just reading her words took me into the world unlike anything I'd ever imagined existed.I read David Pelzers books about his childhood abuse and those books really were hard to get through without crying or putting the book down numerous times before continuing. This young girl's story is so much more gruesome and horrific in ways that no child or person should ever endure, suffer or live to experience. My heart breaks for the young girl who lived through this torture.There are numerous times during reading this book that I had to put it down to clear my mind of the words that haunt me and much more nights I had nightmares.I would not recommend this book to anyone with a sensitive heart and if you do read it, be prepared to face each page with tears in your eyes and an ache in your heart to hold and protect this young girl from savages that held her prisoner for so many years.

Very emotional book. My heart breaks for young Anna and not just because of the physical abuse but also at the fact that in this whole world there wasn't one person who set out to find her. SPOILER: I am so happy that she and her "first" (and only) love were able to reconnect and become a loving couple with children of their own. Children that, I'm sure, would never disappear and have no one to find them. From reading Secret Slave I would bet that Anna would leave no stone unturned to find and protect her babies. My great hope is that the family, the WHOLE family, that was responsible for Anna's disappearance and her subsequent horrific treatment over 13 years, have to answer for what they have done to her (and possibly to others, as well). Difficult read, in that my eyes kept filling with tears and I couldn't see the pages. But, a cautionary tale, too. Human trafficking in the United States is on the rise and it absolutely blows my mind! Let's all watch out for one another. Let's all make sure that no one else like young Anna could come up missing with no answers!

Im' sorry forthe commenters who try to discredit this book saying it can't happen or it's fake. Its shocking the things people survive.You're the reason it's so hard for survivors to tell their stories. As for the Muslim aspect SOME Muslim men ABSOLUTELY DO treat women and children in this manner often killing them through repeated abuse. If you want to peak into the depravity and sadistic nature of abuse this book will bring you there FOR REAL. Nothing is candy coated to make the general public feel better.Be prepared for the naked hard to handle truth.

Anna was kidnapped at 15 years old. Her family didn't care about her and did not look for her. 13 years later she is finally recused. I have no idea how she survived those horrific years. I suppose it was the love she had for her nana. My heart broke multiple times for her. The system completely failed her. All the doctors and home nurses failed her.Anna you my dear are an inspiration! I truly pray one day you can bring charges against that family. God Bless you and although we will never meet. I love you and will continue to keep you in my prayers and thoughts.This is an extremely graphic book and hard to read at times. I had to keep reminding myself that she did make it through.....hence this book. I don't typically purchase books ( I read the free ones ) however I am glad I purchased this one.

When I started reading this story I couldn't stop (though I had to reference the UK English dictionary, as they are apparently cultural.) I found myself cringing through what must have been beyond horrifying experiences that the author has shared candidly after years of trying to come to terms with a life that nobody should ever endure, ever. I was cheering for her escape attempts, hoping for her to have her life back. The only unsatisfying part ( spoiler alert) is that the people that tortured this woman and had stolen, not only her childhood, her mental and physical health, but her children as well never faced justice. I have faith that they will be held accountable by a higher authority. I hope the author can find true peace and happiness, and solace after the creation of this story. Thank you for sharing it.

Recipes are well organized into color coded sections (seafood, soups and salads, cakes and breads, meats, etc.) and contain recipes with varying levels of difficulty. Some recipes are simple and straightforward; others are intricate and involved. The book is packed with colorful illustrations and the print is large, which is convenient for those who need to read recipes from a bit of distance while cooking. Many of the recipes are not exactly Caribbean, such as Mexican Empanadas or Creamy Pesto Shrimp. There is also a lot of fusion borrowing from Asian cuisine, such as the Bak Choy in Oyster Sauce. Those cooks who don't have plentiful access to tropical produce will also appreciate that there are many recipes that call for ingredients readily available in Northern climates. There are, for example, several recipes where pumpkin is the star ingredient, such as Pumpkin Pancakes, Gingery Pumpkin Soup, and Pumpkin Flan.

I wanted to keep a cookbook of my Trinidadian heritage and found Wendy'S books to be quite interesting. I bought this one since I already own the earlier prints. The book is in remarkable condition at a great price and I am ready to cook up a storm, trini style!!

I've tried about a dozen of the recipes in this book and so far they are all very delicious and reliable. The range of recipes is great and truly Caribbean, featuring recipes from Jamaica to Trinidad!Yum!

The copy received was an old library copy in poor condition.I was disappointed and returned it. They said they discribed it assuch, I do not recall reading that description. I would have thoughtmore carefully before orderingI have ordered used copies from yoursite before and have been pleased.

Wendy has done an excellent job with this cookbook. I was born and raised in the Caribbean, so this cookbook is a refreshing take on ingredients and dishes my family has used for years. I've tried numerous recipes and I'm still left wanting more. My favourite is the lamb in mojo sauce. There are a wide range of recipes for meat lovers and vegetarians and gives a great spin on classic Caribbean dishes. I can't recommend this book enough and the steps are well detailed, which is great for a novice cook like myself.

I saw this in the book store today and plan to buy it from Amazon here. It's full of colorful photographs and each page's recipe is large enough to read (lots of white space which is helpful) and the recipes are typical (but with special touches) of what I've been reading for Jamaica. It's a fairly new book so with the $24.95 price in the store, you can save a couple of dollars by buying it here.

Wendy Rahamut's cook book is extremely easy to use and produces very tasteful meals. It is a fantastic alternative to the traditional Caribbean meals.

This book is not worth your time or money it says dog shampoo and shampoo recipes and I was hoping a real formulas for those. But like everybody else it teaches you how to make shampoo off already made castile soap. I mean really?. And make dog shampoo with dish soap??? how ridiculus is that? and what I waste of my money. Make body wash with castile soap? these are good information for beginers... not if you sell, have a business or is already more than just a basic soap maker this book is definetely not for you. I just whish people posted real reviews about this book before I wasted my noney purchasing it. There are not real recipes in this book other than mix and make stuff with products that are out there in the maeket already. Not recommended and I wish I could get my money back. AVOID!!!

Being a fiction writer myself, as I read this book, I did come across a few minor grammatical errors and such, which can be annoying. But after finishing the book, I realized, it is not about grammar, but usefulness of the content she shared here. To her defense, she did mention at the end of the book that she is a pro when it comes to writing. I got so much out of this book, that I think it will be silly not to overlook those mistakes as the value of her content sure outweighs everything else. I am giving it a 5 star.
